The Villa Lago condominium in Boynton Beach is on the hook for a
$443,000 water bill, according to a lawsuit by the city filed in Palm
Beach County Circuit Court, the Sun Sentinel reported. The bill was the
result of the a clerical error causing the city to undercharge the
association for four years. “The city made the mistake, but says we have
to pay for it,” said Carl Klepper, a Villa Lago board member. “How can
they expect us to collect this monty?” The city said that the condo
received the services, and therefore should pay. “The residents received
the services and should have been billed for it,” said Barry Atwood,
finance director for Boynton Beach. “You can look at it like we were
late in billing.” [Sun
