Mizner Grande sued for employment of allegedly corrupt agent

Boca Raton-based Mizner Grande Realty was the subject of two lawsuits filed in late January by clients who say the firm was negligent in employing agent Jon Rashotsky, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

The suits allege that Rashotsky directed about $165,000 worth of deposits from the two clients to unauthorized parties through a lawyer (who is the subject of a separate lawsuit), undermining their home purchases. One buyer found alternate funding to close on his Delray Beach condo, and Mizner Grande recieved its full $6,885 commission. The other prospective buyer did not get the new home.

Rashotsky, who worked out of the firm’s Delray Beach office, was sued by Mizner Grande in December for misplacing $1 million worth of deposits from 15 clients. Now, these buyers are claiming the brokerage did not properly investigate him before hiring him and continued to employ him despite known problems. Rashotsky was eventually let go in November.
