Construction on SkyRise Miami, a $430 million observation tower at the edge of a waterfront parking lot in downtown Miami, is kicking off.

Last week, the Miami City Commission authorized foundation work to begin on developer Jeff Berkowitz’s 1,000-foot tower, according to Miami Today.

Berkowitz had asked the commission to approve preliminary work so that the development could maintain height approval from the Federal Aviation Administration, before it expires on June 12. [Miami Today] Christopher Cameron
