Parking complaints from Wynwood business owners and employees spurred the Miami Parking Authority to create a parking plan that includes provisions for local employees.
“In an area that has experienced fast-paced growth in a short span of time, we believe that the new parking program will improve accessibility, safety, and mobility in the Wynwood BID,” Rolando Tapanes, director of planning and development for the authority, said in a press release.
The new program will expand the neighborhood’s Pay by Phone parking areas west from the railroad tracks that cut across North Miami Avenue to Sixth Avenue, from Northwest 20th to 29th streets, according to the Miami New Times.
The plan also includes an employee parking program, with approximately 260 spaces designated for neighborhood employees for $30 a month, as well as a monthly program with 85 spaces for $55 a month. It is set to take effect Oct. 1. [Miami New Times] – Christopher Cameron
