As the stars emerge in force for Art Basel this week, so too do their real estate wheelings and dealings. Here’s a look at what homes celebrities are eyeing, buying and selling in Miami-Dade County.
Celeb: Shakira | Status: Selling
Shakira’s 3140 North Bay Road home might not be listed on the market, but it is for sale, Douglas Elliman broker Robin Kluge told The Real Deal. Kluge sent one of her clients to tour the home, which Shakira is reportedly still living in. He was told it has a “whisper” asking price of $13 million.
Celebs: David and Victoria Beckham | Status: Eyeing
David Beckham, who’s planning on bringing Major League Soccer to Miami, looked at a $13.9 million Key Biscayne house, according to published reports. The 13,898-square-foot oceanfront home is accessible via a private gated road. Brokers Tal and Oren Alexander of Douglas Elliman’s The Alexander Team have the listing for 755 South Mashta Drive.
Celeb: Matt Damon | Status: Under contract
Matt Damon listed his mansion, located at 6020 North Bay Road, for $19 million last year. The seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom Mediterranean estate was built on a double-lot and is reportedly under contract as of this week. Damon bought both lots for a combined $14.5 million in 2005. Coldwell Banker’s “The Jills,” Jill Eber and Jill Hertzberg, represented the actor, according to the Wall Street Journal in 2013.
Celebs: Poonam Khubani | Status: Buying/Selling
Bollywood actress and producer Poonam Khubani will be one of the first owners to experience hotelier Ian Schrager’s vision for the uber-luxurious residences he built as part of the new Miami Beach EDITION hotel.
On Dec. 1, the Poonam Khubani Revocable Family Trust paid $17.5 million for unit 1601, according to public records. Khubani, who is married to As Seen on TV giant and Telebrands president A.J. Khubani, reportedly put her nearby condo on the market for $19.9 million earlier this year.
Ed. note: This post was updated after The Real Deal obtained its own property records relating to Poonam Khubani’s purchase at the EDITION — read that story here. The post had previously stated that As Seen on TV giant and Telebrands president A.J. Khubani bought a penthouse triplex at the EDITION, according to the New York Post.
