Miami Heat coach and longtime condo dweller Erik Spoelstra paid $2.6 million for a 5,400-square-foot house in Coconut Grove in late May ahead of his July wedding.
Spoelstra, head coach of the Miami Heat since 2009, financed the house purchase with a $1.95 million loan from Florida Community Bank.
The 45-year-old Heat coach closed the purchase 10 days after the Miami Heat lost their post-season playoff series against the Toronto Raptors.
Spoelstra is getting married to former Miami Heat cheerleader Nikki Sapp July 1.
His renovated 1937-vintage house in the Grove has five bedrooms and four bathrooms, and the lush lot, almost an acre in size, also has a one-bedroom guest cottage.
The house features wood floors and wood-beamed ceilings and a master suite with a view of a terrace and swimming pool.
Since his ascent within the Miami Heat organization began, Spoelstra has lived in a two-bedroom condo at the Ritz-Carlton in Coconut Grove. He also owns a vacation home in Hawaii. [Miami Herald] — Mike Seemuth
