Doral, Davie and Miami’s MiMo District are all getting new restaurants.
The Halal Guys announced it was bringing its famous white sauce to South Florida, starting with a location at the Town Shops in Davie. Brimstone Woodfire Grill and Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine are both opening in Doral. And MiMo is getting a new Italian restaurant, fresh out of Naples.
‘O Munaciello | MiMo District
‘O Munaciello will open at 6425 Biscayne Boulevard in the MiMo District in Miami. The restaurant is set to open in January in a 1,000-square-foot space at MiMo Place, a new retail plaza on the northeast corner of 64th Street and Biscayne Boulevard. (Panther Coffee is also slated to be a tenant.)
The restaurant will have 60 seats, operate six days a week, and serve menu items like handmade pizzas, pastas and desserts. Elia Cui is the executive chef. It will open early next year.
Developer Alex Karakhanian sold the building earlier this year for $6.7 million. It’s fully leased to tenants that include Panther, a clothing store, and a home improvement store.
The Halal Guys | Davie
New York City’s Halal Guys is opening in South Florida. Davie resident and franchise owner Shahmeer Alam will operate the first location, at 2268 South University Drive at the Town Shops, also early next year.
A second location in Pembroke Pines is also in the works for 2017, according to a press release. The Halal Guys, which first launched as a hot dog cart in 1990, is in the middle of a 450-restaurant expansion around the world.
Brimstone Woodfire Grill | Doral
Brimstone Woodfire Grill signed a 10-year lease for 5,500 square feet at CityPlace Doral. The location marks the second for Brimstone Woodfire Grill, a concept led by father and sons Jeff Anderson, JR and Anders Anderson.
Jeff Sussman brokered the Doral lease, according to a spokesperson.
CityPlace Doral recently brought on Vapiano, a fast casual Italian restaurant chain, which is leasing 7,910 square feet at the mixed-use project. In all, the $800 million, 55-acre mixed-use development calls for 300,000 square feet of retail space and more than 1,000 housing units, including 150 single-family homes, 700 rental apartments and 320 condos. Shoma Homes is co-developing CityPlace Doral with Related, and Arquitectonica is the architect.
Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine | Doral
Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine is now serving vaca frita, tostones and more at the Shops at Downtown Doral.
Restaurant owners Antonio and Nilda Vilarino now have 16 locations in South Florida, including this latest one. Other restaurants at Downtown Doral include Pisco y Nazca Ceviche Gastrobar, Robeks Juice, Bulla Gastrobar, Giardino Gourmet Salads, Dragonfly Izakaya & Fish Market and Stellino’s Trattoria & Bar.
Fortune International Realty recently opened its office at the mixed-use project, as well as the Ballet Boutique and Skyros Sports. The retail component spans 180,000 square feet and 70 restaurants and stores, including Publix.
As a whole, the $1 billion Downtown Doral project is a planned 120-acre redevelopment of the former Koger Office Park near the Palmetto Expressway. When completed, it will also boast a total of 2,840 residences comprised of condos and townhomes, and nearly 1 million square feet of office space.
