South Beach Diet creator Dr. Arthur Agatston is looking to sell his custom-made Miami Beach estate for $23 million.
The celebrity doctor and practicing cardiologist owns the Sunset Islands home at 1633 North View Drive, which hit the market late last week with Esther Percal of EWM Realty International. Percal could not immediately be reached for comment.
The South Beach Diet was a popular fad diet in the early- to mid-2000s, and gained a following after Agatston published his eponymous 2003 book. Since then, he’s published a number of books and cookbooks.
Property records show Agatston and his wife, Sari, paid $4.2 million for the nearly 26,000-square-foot lot in 2005. The couple’s Miami Beach home is now listed for about $2,230 per square foot. The six-bedroom, 10,300-square-foot mansion was built in 2009 and features a master suite, chef’s kitchen, a gym, waterfront pool, coffered plaster ceilings and a detached guest suite, according to the listing.
The Sunset Islands is a group of four man-made islands west of North Bay Road and north of the Venetians.
In March, a spec home at 1826 West 23rd Street on the Sunset Islands hit the market for $17.95 million, or nearly $2,500 per square foot. Earlier this year, a non-waterfront spec home on Sunset Island 3 sold for $5.8 million, or $1,130 per square foot.
