Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Hélio Castroneves is switching lanes — but not in his race car.
The Brazilian race car driver and “Dancing with the Stars” winner just listed his 4,800-square-foot waterfront home at 325 Seven Isles Drive in Fort Lauderdale, said listing agent Jeff Hendricks of One Sotheby’s International Realty. It’s on the market for $2.89 million.
Castroneves is selling the five-bedroom home because he’s planning on upgrading to a house he’s building nearby at 31 Pelican Drive. Hendricks is also the general contractor for that property, a $7 million home he said will be completed in the first quarter of 2019.
Property records show Castroneves, a former Key Biscayne resident, paid $1.1 million in 2011 for the Seven Isles Drive home, where he currently lives. He also owns the property next door, which is on the market for $1.9 million and is listed on Airbnb for $825 a night.
Castroneves Racing paid $1.75 million in 2016 for the property on which he’s building the new 6,500-square-foot home.
The IndyCar veteran recently announced that he had joined Team Penske to race in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
