National survey: 3 of the 5 fastest-selling residential developments are in Florida

The survey by RCLCO ranked The Villages in Central Florida first, and developments in the Sarasota area second and fifth

A national survey shows that three of the five fastest-selling residential developments are in Florida.

The Villages, a retirement community in Central Florida, is the fastest-selling residential development in the nation, according to RCLCO a real estate consulting firm based in Maryland.

The Villages had 1,115 home sales in the first half of the year, up 13 percent from the same period last year.

The number of home sales at Lakewood Ranch, a master-planned community in Sarasota and Manatee counties, ranked second.

Lakewood Ranch had 826 home sales in the January-June period, a 33 percent increase from last year.

Ranked fifth in the RCLCO survey was West Villages in North Port, a city in the Sarasota area. The number of first-half home sales at West Villages totaled 648, up 23 percent from last year.

According to RCLCO, the other two top-selling residential developments are third-ranked Summerlin in Las Vegas and fourth-ranked Irvine Ranch in Orange County, California. [Bradenton Herald] – Mike Seemuth
