The Weekly Dish: Del Frisco’s steakhouse inks lease at Met Square & more

Paulie Gee’s, Vagabond Sushi, Tarpon Bend and Elysian at St. Roch all closed

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse | Downtown Miami

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse signed a 15,000-square-foot lease in downtown Miami, the company confirmed.

The steakhouse chain will be on two floors at Met Square, the final phase of MDM Group’s Metropolitan Miami project that includes Met 1, 2 and 3. Whole Foods anchors the Met 3 building, a luxury apartment tower by Zom.

In Florida, Del Frisco’s has one location in Orlando, according to its website.

La Estación American Brasserie by Juvia Group | Downtown Miami

Juvia Group will be opening a 240-seat, 10,000-square-foot restaurant and bar at MiamiCentral.

The restaurant group signed a lease at Central Fare, the food hall at Brightline’s Miami station, soon to be called Virgin Trains USA. La Estación American Brasserie by Juvia, set to open in the spring, will have four private event spaces and an open kitchen.

Juvia Group’s restaurants include Juvia at 1111 Lincoln Road, Sushi Garage and Sunny Poké in Miami Beach.

Other tenants at Central Fare include Parliament Coffee & Espresso Bar, Rosetta Bakery and 800º Woodfired Kitchen.

Los Generales Mezcal & Grill | Coconut Grove

Los Generales Mezcal & Grill, a full-service Mexican restaurant, is set to open in late 2019 in Coconut Grove.

The restaurant, led by chef Aquiles Chavez of “Top Chef Mexico,” signed a 7,500-square-foot lease on the third floor of CocoWalk. It will overlook the outdoor shopping mall’s new interior courtyard and Grand Avenue.

Vagabond Sushi | MiMo District

After a brief stint, the latest restaurant at Avra Jain’s Vagabond Hotel has closed. Vagabond Sushi Bar, led by Amir Ben-Zion of the now-shuttered Gigi in Midtown Miami, closed. Ben-Zion said he spent more than $600,000 on renovations to the restaurant.

Paulie Gee’s Miami | MiMo District

After opening in late 2016, Paulie Gee’s Miami closed about a week ago.

In a note on Instagram, owner Jason Weisman announced the closure and said the restaurant plans to do pop-ups around Miami. The Brooklyn pizzeria was leasing space at 8001 Biscayne Boulevard, just north of the MiMo District.

Elysian Seafood at St. Roch Market | Miami Design District

Elysian Seafood, led by Brandon Blackwell and Jennifer Sherrod, closed at St. Roch Market in the Miami Design District.

St. Roch, a 10,000-square-foot food hall, opened about a year ago at the Palm Court, at 140 Northeast 39th Street. Other tenants include Chef Chloe and the Vegan Cafe, Coop, Del Pin, Jaffa and Yuzu.

Tarpon Bend Raw Bar & Grill | Coral Gables

The popular Tarpon Bend restaurant and bar in Coral Gables closed after 15 years.

The chef and owner told the Miami Herald that his expenses rose after the building at 65 Miracle Mile was sold in 2013 for $21.5 million, with the new owner passing on higher taxes and maintenance to Tarpon Bend.
