UPDATED, Oct. 11, 10:44 a.m.: Retired baseball player Alex Rodriguez scored a home in Miami for his next UFC Gym.

Rodriguez’s A-Rod Corp. signed a lease for 24,000 square feet at 3635 Northeast First Avenue in Midtown Miami, according to a press release. The fitness facility is expected to open in the spring of next year. Irma Figueroa and Michael Comras of the Comras Company represented the landlord, District 36. Comras and Jeff Evans represented the tenant.

The deal adds to other fitness concepts in Midtown and nearby. Among them, Barry’s Bootcamp has a location in Midtown and Orange Theory operates in the Design District.

Rodriguez, who has a growing real estate empire, secured development rights for UFC Gyms in Miami-Dade County in 2017. The Midtown Miami location will mark the second such gym, following the 31,000-square-foot location in Kendall.

In addition to his UFC Gyms, Rodriguez has a partnership with Trufusion, a group fitness concept.

The new UFC Gym has a temporary enrollment center at 3130 North Miami Avenue, which is open every day, according to the release. The permanent location will include a bag room, high-intensity interval training studio, other training areas, recovery services, group fitness classes and a cafe.

UFC has more than 150 locations in the U.S., United Kingdom, India, Australia, Vietnam, Singapore, Mexico, South America, the United Arab Emirates, and more.

Rodriguez spoke to The Real Deal last month about his real estate investments. Since he founded the Miami-based A-Rod Corp. in 2003, the firm has purchased over 15,000 apartments across the U.S., deploying hundreds of millions of dollars on real estate and investing in companies like the hospitality startup Sonder, private jet startup Wheels Up, Snapchat and NRG eSports.

A-Rod Corp. recently closed on a $4.5 million condo at Terra’s Grove at Grand Bay, where the company is building out its unit as an office and creating a ground-floor event space.
