Transportation titan buys Boca Raton home for $7M
Buyer Harold Groome Jr. downsized from a Boca waterfront mansion he sold in January
A transportation guru downsized from a Boca Raton waterfront mansion to a non-waterfront house, buying it from a local insurance chief who is embroiled in litigation.
Property records show Marshal and Karen Seeman sold the home at 1300 Thatch Palm Drive to Harold V. Groome Jr. for $7.4 million.
Marshal Seeman is president and co-founder of Boca Raton-based Seeman Holtz, a property and casualty insurance company he co-founded in 1998, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Seeman Holtz faces allegations of bilking eldery retirees of more than $300 million. In October, Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Ashley Zuckerman appointed a Fort Lauderdale financial services company to peer into Seeman Holtz’s financial practices, the Palm Beach Post reported at the time. An attorney for the company denied the allegations, according to the publication. A hearing is set for May, court records show.
Court records show that American Express filed suit against Seeman in October, alleging he defaulted on his American Express account and owes more than $225,000. The legal fight is ongoing.
Groome is chairman of Richmond, Virginia-based transportation company Groome Transportation, which provides airport shuttle services across the country.
The 5,979-square-foot house sits on a quarter-acre and comes with four bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and one-half bathroom, records show. It was built in 2014. The Seemans bought the newly built home that same year for $4.8 million, records show.
David W. Roberts with Royal Palm Properties represented the sellers in the latest deal. Louise Albert with RE/MAX Consultants Realty I represented the buyer, according to Realtor.
The property has been on and off the market for months. It was listed in May for $8.7 million. The price fell to $7.9 million in July, and the house was removed from the market in November. It was listed again on March 15 for $7.4 million and sold for full price, according to Realtor.com.
Groome has bought and sold property in Boca Raton before.
In 2019, Groome bought the waterfront mansion at 484 South Maya Palm Drive for $11.5 million, which he sold in January for $17.3 million, records show.
Boca Raton continues to see luxury sales close at a rapid clip. This month, 18-year-old rapper Bhad Bhabie bought a mansion near Boca Raton from an NFL free agent for $6.1 million.
