“South Florida by the numbers” is a web feature that catalogs the most notable, quirky and surprising real estate statistics.

The tony and tiny town of Palm Beach, famous for its lavish and plentiful wintertime soirees, is also known for being a ghost town in the dog days of summer. With so few residents to serve, many area businesses run on shortened hours or close their doors altogether this time of year. But with a flurry of big-ticket deals in recent weeks (involving some internationally known names), the Palm Beach real estate market is as hot as the average daily temperatures. With a limited number of properties available and a continuing surge in demand, prices are expected to remain at record high levels for the foreseeable future. Let’s check out the action in this month’s edition of “South Florida by the numbers.”

The 20,195-square-foot mansion was built in 2006 and has 10 bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms and seven half-bathrooms, as well as a pool and summer kitchen. [TheReal Deal]
