A waterfront Venetian Islands home in Miami rented for $95,000 a month for the duration of South Florida’s busy season, The Real Deal has learned.

Sources link former football star Carlos Dunlap to the trust that owns the house at 1379 North Venetian Way on San Marco Island.

The home is rented for six months, according to the tenant’s agent, Dean Bloch of Douglas Elliman. Tanya Vanterpool of Macken Realty represented the homeowner. Both Vanterpool and Dunlap deny that Dunlap owns the property.

Dunlap started his National Football League career with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010, playing with the team for nine years before a two year stint with the Seattle Seahawks and a Super Bowl win with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. He owns the Covington, Kentucky brunch restaurant Honey Uninhibited, and recently shuttered its Miami location. Dunlap posted on Instagram in September about plans to move out of the Magic City.

The trust linked to Dunlap paid $15.6 million for the home in 2022. Diana Ross (who is not the famed lead singer of the Supremes), is named a trustee on the deed. Dunlap’s mother is also named Diana Ross.

The Venetian Islands home was built in 2017 on a quarter acre, and spans 4,900 square feet, with four bedrooms and five bathrooms. The house also has a pool and 60 feet of waterfront, according to the release. The owner poured an additional $1.2 million into upgrades for the home, and tapped Carlos Rodriguez as the interior designer, the listing shows.

It is also listed for sale asking $17.9 million, according to Redfin. Vanterpool is the listing agent.

Pricey rentals have been on the rise in South Florida. A penthouse in Faena House in Miami Beach is renting for $135,000 a month, the same price for which a 3,800-square-foot condo in the Four Seasons Residences at the Surf Club in Surfside rented. Luxury single-family home rentals in Miami Beach have asked as much as $350,000 in monthly rent in recent years.

The luxury rental market is also expanding beyond South Florida, with many deciding the challenges of insurance and property taxes aren’t worth the headache.

An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the owner of the home as award-winning singer Diana Ross, based on inaccurate information from Douglas Elliman.
