Oakland A’s pitcher buys South Florida mansion

Major League Baseball pitcher Luis Severino paid $10.7 million for a home under construction in Pinecrest.

Severino, who plays for the Oakland Athletics, and his wife Rosmaly Frechel, CEO of the Luis Severino Foundation, bought the 1-acre property at 10801 Southwest 67th Avenue, records show. A company led by Endurys Espinosa, president of A&E Brothers Roofing, sold the partially built mansion.

The nearly 11,300-square-foot home will have seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a separate guest wing, summer kitchen, three-car garage, pool, sauna and steam room, according to the listing. Sande Keil of Compass represented the seller, and Sherlyn Arauma of Sky Consultants Realty & Property Management represented the buyer.

In December, Severino signed a three-year, $67 million contract with the Athletics, which included a $10 million signing bonus. His contract is the largest in the Athletics’ franchise history, according to ESPN.

The Pinecrest house is expected to be completed in October, according to the listing.

It hit the market in November for $11.9 million. The sellers paid $3.1 million for the property in October.

Pinecrest is among the neighborhoods in South Florida that have experienced a luxury boom in pricing and new home construction. Last year, finance executive Andre Hakkak paid $14.3 million for a spec mansion in Pinecrest, setting a record in the village.

Pinecrest has also attracted its fair share of professional athletes. Last year, National Basketball Association star Dion Waiters sold his Pinecrest estate for $11.1 million, more than four years after he was traded from the Miami Heat to the Los Angeles Lakers.

And in 2023, retired All-Star baseball player David Ortiz, known as “Big Papi,” sold his mansion for nearly $10.6 million, a record for Pinecrest that was broken months later by the $11.3 million sale of another spec mansion to Anne Mahlum, the founder of Pilates giant [solidcore].
