Actor and director Daisy Chaplin sold her waterfront North Bay Road home in Miami Beach for $31.5 million, years after she bought out her brother’s interest in the home.
The property at 6000 North Bay Road belonged to her late father, Broadway director and producer Harold Prince. Douglas Elliman’s Dina Goldentayer represented the buyer, according to her Instagram account. Goldentayer could not be reached for comment.
The two-story, 9,000-square-foot mansion has eight bedrooms and eight and a half bathrooms on a 0.8-acre lot. It was built in 1937 and expanded over the years. The property, with 150 feet of bay frontage, will likely be redeveloped.
Harold “Hal” Prince bought the North Bay Road mansion in 1987 for $1.7 million, records show. He’s considered one of the most renowned figures in American theater, producing and directing Broadway hits such as “West Side Story,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Cabaret,” “Sweeney Todd,” and “Phantom of the Opera.” He won 21 Tony Awards, according to his obituary in the New York Times.
The home was transferred to a trust in Harold Prince’s name in 2000, a year after his death. His children were deeded the property in 2015, and they fought over it. In 2021, Chaplin bought out her sibling, Charles Prince, for $10 million.
The latest deal adds to a string of pricey sales on the waterfront street.
Also in May, developer David Edelstein paid $25.5 million for the nearby waterfront home at 6380 North Bay Road, which sits on a 0.6-acre lot.
In recent weeks, French banker Olivier Sarkozy, whose half brother is former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and who was previously married to Mary-Kate Olsen, paid $5.2 million for a non-waterfront home on the same street.
In March, spec home developer Todd Michael Glaser and the Posner Group de-listed the waterfront 2.3-acre estate at 5940 North Bay Road, which was asking $169 million.
The Miami Beach street is also home to celebrity buyers who include David and Victoria Beckham, the Bee Gees’ Barry Gibb, Cindy Crawford, Michael Bay and Shakira. A group of residents has been attempting to gate a portion of the street to increase privacy and security.
