In South Florida’s latest batch of hiring news, Guillermo Freixas has left Compass to launch his own team at Serhant.

He will be joined by his brother Jose Daniel Freixas, a film and television producer who will oversee operations, branding, media strategy and business development for the new team, according to a news release.

Before joining Serhant, Guillermo Freixas spent four years at Compass as part of the Riley Smith Group. The team moved to Compass in 2022 after leaving Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices EWM Realty, where it had spent 17 years. Freixas was with the Riley Smith Group for over nine years, according to LinkedIn. He has closed more than $140 million in sales since 2019, the release said.

The addition comes as Concord Crest Real Estate expands across South Florida, with 20 projects in its pipeline throughout the region, the release said. Projects include hotels, waterfront condominiums, offices and mixed-use developments across the Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.

Rounding off South Florida’s new hires is John Paul Croake, a former Husch Blackwell real estate attorney who joined Weiss Law as senior counsel. Croake’s practice focuses on residential and commercial real estate, including acquisitions and dispositions, land use, construction, development and finance.

Before joining Weiss Law, Croake was an attorney at JPC Law Group and a partner at Stafford Rosenbaum LLP. Weiss Law is a boutique real estate firm with offices in Miami, Aventura and Boca Raton.
