Miami developers seek success through innovative touches

As Miami slowly emerges from the recession, Miami Today noted that more of the city’s developers are including innovative touches in their projects in order to stand out in an increasingly crowded marketplace.

For example, Gil Dezer’s Dezer Development is teaming with Porsche Design to build a 57-story tower on Sunny Isles Beach with elevators that allow each buyer to park their car next to their unit.“We’ll be charging for the parking space as part of the units, instead of giving it away free in a garage,” Dezer said.

Meanwhile, Berkowitz Development Group is awaiting approval for its Gables Station project, which would include 330,000 square feet of retail divided by some 1,450 parking spaces that would allow shoppers to park closest to their desired store. The project calls for more than $1 million worth of public art displays.

Other projects, including Apogee Beach, with a financing structure that requires buyers to pay 80 percent of their unit price before the building is built, and Biscayne Landing, which will include vast open spaces, are looking for unconventional roads to success. [Miami Today]
