Longtime executive Justin D’Adamo is out at Compass as head of new development.
A spokesperson for Compass did not say why D’Adamo is no longer with the firm, and D’adamo declined to comment.
Compass has not announced a replacement, and has “elevated local leadership to integrate our new development business with our core brokerage,” according to a spokesperson.
D’Adamo joined the firm in 2016 as a senior managing director tasked with overseeing new developments outside of New York. He most recently had the title of head of national new development, according to the company’s website.
Since D’Adamo joined the firm, Compass has gone from a privately-owned industry disruptor to a publicly traded company with the most sales volume in the country.
Compass Development Marketing Group, which D’Adamo oversaw, has done over $23 billion in sales and rentals, according to the company’s website.
Some of the group’s strongest developer connections came over to the firm through acquisitions, like the relationship between Miki Naftali’s Naftali Group and Stribling & Associates, which Compass bought in 2018.
This year, Naftali Group had the two most expensive projects filed in the city, at 255 East 77th Street and 211 West 84th Street, which have projected sellouts of $531 million and $472 million, respectively. Alexa Lambert, who joined the Compass from Stribling, is leading sales for both projects, along with Compass Development Marketing Group.
The move is not the first shakeup of Compass’ new development team in 2025. In January, the firm brought on former Douglas Elliman Development Marketing executive Nikol Solares as its senior managing director of new development marketing.
Solares, who is based out of Florida, said the “tremendous potential Compass has to expand new development” and “make a dent in the market” swayed her to make the switch.
Solares also said Compass acquisition of Christie’s International Real Estate, part of its $444 million deal for @properties, played a role in her decision.
