MrBeast is filming season 2 of his hit “Beast Games” reality show in a mysterious building in the Las Vegas outskirts.
Clark County approved documents submitted by the world’s biggest YouTuber, real name Jimmy Donaldson, for a dirt lot next to I-15 at 2726 West Pyle Avenue, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. The property is owned by South 80, an LLC belonging to South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa owner Michael Gaughan.
The Clark County Fire Prevention Bureau stepped in to ensure safety at the planned filming site, which includes an outdoor patch of land and an adjacent building resembling an airplane hangar. Agency workers reviewed the documents submitted because MrBeast’s plans include using six diesel generators and 500-gallon fuel tanks with a total fuel capacity of 7,562 gallons.
It’s a step down in terms of venue size compared to the first season, which was filmed at Allegiant Stadium and featured 2,000 contestants competing for a $5 million prize. The 27-year-old social media star broadcasts over-the-top competitions like these to his 385 million subscribers on YouTube — the most of any creator on the platform.
The first season of the Prime Video series was marred by a class-action lawsuit filed in September by five contestants alleging a “toxic” work environment.
Plaintiffs claimed they received “limited sustenance” while filming and the production had “insufficient medical staffing” that put contestants in danger, according to the Review-Journal. Women reportedly faced “sexual harassment” throughout filming, and contestants allegedly weren’t paid for their participation.
It’s not the only blight the MrBeast brand has faced in the past year.
In April, fans paid approximately $1,000 each for a Fyre Festival-like bait-and-switch at “The MrBeast Experience” in Sin City. It was planned as a three-day “immersive” event that included a three-night stay at Resorts World Las Vegas, a gift bag of MrBeast merchandise, and the chance to win a $10,000 gift voucher. Attendees claimed they waited in their hotel rooms for hours and only received a bag of clearance items from MrBeast’s online shop.
Filming for “Beast Games” season 2 is reportedly slated to begin in mid-June. The permit listed a move-in date of May 1 and the building is expected to be torn down by June 30. The show has been renewed for a third season.
