A Hunts Point waterfront estate tied to telecommunications mogul Bruce McCaw sold for more than half of its original list price.
Bruce McCaw sold the 17,600-square-foot manse for $38 million, landing among the priciest home sales in Washington history, even as it closed at a deep discount, the Seattle Times and Puget Sound Business Journal reported.
The price amounts to $2,159 per square foot.
It’s $47 million off McCaw’s original $85 million asking price in 2022. That figure made it the most expensive listing in Northwest Multiple Listing Service history. The mansion was most recently listed for $58 million and carries a tax-assessed value of $54 million, according to the Business Journal.
The buyers, Bryan Kelly and Emily White, are moving in from Laurelhurst, where they sold a 7,100-square-foot home for $14 million in an off-market deal last month. White is a tech executive with past stints at Google, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
Set on 4.3 gated acres with 327 feet of Lake Washington frontage, the Hunts Point estate has five bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, along with a beach house, staff quarters, pool cabana and a dock built to accommodate a 150-foot yacht and a seaplane.
The home was originally built in 1995 and designed by architect Richard Landry for saxophonist Kenny G. The musician sold the home to McCaw’s brother Craig in 1999, who sold it to his brother 18 years ago.
The McCaw deal fits a broader pattern of recent high-end homes in the region selling below their asking prices, including a Sammamish waterfront home sold by former Seattle Seahawks player Sidney Rice that traded last month at a 25 percent discount, the Seattle Times reported.
Still, at $38 million, the Hunts Point estate ranks among the state’s top five residential trades. Jeff Bezos sold his Hunts Point property last April for $63 million and acquired the La Haye Estate in 2010 for $60 million. Indian actor Sunny Singh bought a Hunts Point home in 2020 for $60 million, and a Medina property sold in 2024 for $38.9 million.
