Meta has been trying to cozy up to Donald Trump’s administration. Now, Mark Zuckerberg is moving as close as possible to the president.
Zuckerberg is the buyer of a $23 million mansion in Washington, D.C.’s posh Woodland Normanstone neighborhood, Politico reported. The all-cash sale took place in early March, but the Meta chief wasn’t outed as the purchaser until late last week.
The sale was the third-most expensive in the history of the district.
“Mark and Priscilla have purchased a home in D.C., which will allow Mark to spend more time there as Meta continues the work on policy issues related to American technology leadership,” a spokesperson for Meta told the publication.
The home is within a 15-minute drive of the White House, traffic depending, according to the New York Post. It’s also just a stroll away from the Naval Observatory, where Vice President JD Vance resides.
The 15,400-square-foot home includes five bedrooms and seven and a half bathrooms, as well as a pair of kitchens and a trio of fireplaces, according to development records obtained by the Post. There’s also a basketball court and pool complex, along with walls and fencing for security purposes.
Buying a property close to the seat of power appears to be the latest way Zuckerberg is making his presence felt in Trump’s orbit. He was among the tech executives to attend Trump’s inauguration and dropped fact-checking from Facebook in an apparent effort to appease the president.
Plenty of business magnates have recently flocked to D.C., providing an expected bump at the top of the district’s luxury market. Cryptocurrency adviser David Sacks purchased a home in January for $10.3 million. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent bought a home for $12.5 million, while Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick dropped a record $25 million on Bret Baier’s former abode.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel and former Google executive Eric Schmidt also have homes in D.C.
