Ground Zero suffering serious setbacks

Meeting the security concerns of the New York City Police Department regarding the Freedom Tower to be constructed at Ground Zero is not going to be as easy as initially suggested last week. Though the police department says it first issued its security warning a year ago, reports are circulating that the blueprints for the tower may have to be scrapped, the tower may have to be moved and its walls hardened, construction may be set back as much as a year and significant cost increases may ensue. Developer Larry Silverstein is asking for public financing, possibly to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. more [NYT]
