Now under way, sales at Plaza could set records

Sales on the condos of the converted the Plaza Hotel are now under way, and initial asking prices indicate that the units could set price-per-square-foot sales records in Manhattan. A 1,202-square foot, one-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom condo is going for $5.1 million – or, about $4,242 a foot – according to Corcoran Group broker Jason Kay, one of many brokers trying to bring buyers to the project being marketed by Stribling & Associates. A 2,857-square-foot condo with three bedrooms and three bathrooms is on the market for $14.65 million – about $5,127 a foot. And a five-bedroom, five-and-a-half bathroom unit with 5,613 square feet is asking more than $5,200 a foot.
