Greenspan trumps pope in book advance

Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan has nudged out the late Pope John Paul II for the second biggest advance ever for a book of nonfiction. (The all-time biggest advance remains the $12 million former President Clinton got for his memoir “My Story.”) Penguin Inc. has reportedly agreed to pay Greenspan in the $8.5 million to $9 million range for his memoir.
