Artists who live in the studios above Carnegie Hall are appealing a
court decision that allowed their evictions to move ahead as part of a
$150-million renovation project. The contract for the project has been
given to the firm run by the son-in-law of Carnegie Hall’s chairman and
major benefactor, Sanford Weill. Natan Bibliowicz’s firm also designed
the $56-million Manhattan home of the Alvin Ailey American Dance
Theater, where Weill’s wife is chairman of the board.
