The City Council is expected today to ratify the rezoning that would
allow Columbia University’s 17-acre expansion in West Harlem. Community
opposition to the project — which would transform the area from
Broadway to 12th Avenue, between 125th and 133rd streets — was voiced
at a Dec. 12th City Council hearing. If the rezoning is not passed
today it is expected be passed by mid-January.
