D’Amatos revise Atlantic Beach plans

Former Sen. Alfonse D’Amato, his brother and son have revised their
plans to build 100 luxury condos at The Sands on Atlantic Beach, after
Hempstead Town rejected their original proposal for the small
oceanfront community four months ago. The D’Amatos did not reduce the
size of their plans, but increased parking. Elected officials say a
special district was created 20 years ago to prevent development along
the beach.
