Healthy outlook for hospital expansions

The city’s healthcare system is expanding aggressively, thanks to billions of dollars in donations and financing for the construction of new medical facilities. Columbia Presbyterian topped out in November on its $242 million Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Heart Center, made possible through a $50 million donation. New York-Presbyterian Hospital received a $278 million commitment last year from the Federal Housing Administration for an expansion. St. Vincent’s Hospital hopes to build a 21-story, $800 million hospital on Seventh Avenue between 12th and 13th streets.
