East Fifth Street residents are fighting the Cooper Square Hotel’s application for a liquor license for a second-floor Outdoor Terrace. The terrace extends just 30 inches from the window of a tenement apartment next door. It will have a capacity for 77 customers with three tables and 32 seats, and will operate between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. every day. The hotel plans to build a 42-inch-tall sound-baffling wall, put an awning over the terrace and prohibit smoking where it abuts the apartment.
