McCarren Park Pool could include music space

The new McCarren Park Pool in Greenpoint could include space for a music venue after all. Sonic Youth played what was thought to be the final concert at the closed pool on Aug. 30, as the city prepares to build a new pool for swimming. A 4,800-square-foot space could host small shows, though nowhere near the 7,000 concert-goers who came to the McCarren Park Pool Parties hosted by JellyNYC. Neighborhood activist Evan Thies is pushing for a new big waterfront venue for next year.
