Senator angry over Lundy’s renovation

State Senator Carl Kruger is fighting a gourmet food store that is taking the place of the shuttered landmarked Lundy’s, a seafood restaurant at 1901 Emmons Avenue in Sheepshead Bay. Kruger said the new store owner is altering the building’s facade, and the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission has issued a stop-work order. The gourmet food shop is slated to open in a couple of months. Some residents say they are looking forward to a new deli in the area, while the senator and the chairwoman of Community Board 15 are still holding out hope for a new restaurant in the Lundy’s building.
