Time magazine
takes a look at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, which is still under
construction and set to reopen in February. The renovations by
architecture firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro include redesigning the
entrance to Lincoln Center’s main fountain plaza, putting a vehicular
road below street level and making
access From The Broadway side easier for pedestrians. The architecture
firm also wanted to open up the lobby of Alice Tully Hall to the
street, so it sliced a multi-story, upward-tilting wall where the lobby
meets the corner of Broadway and 65th Street, and walled the enlarged
and re-designed lobby beneath it in glass.
