Gehry lays off staff after Atlantic Yards delay

Atlantic Yards architect Frank Gehry laid off over two dozen staffers
late last month after developer Forest City Ratner ordered him to stop
work on the $4 billion Atlantic Yards project. Last week, Forest City
Enterprises, the developer’s parent company, announced that the company
would suspend all new development
except the Atlantic Yards project and projects already under
construction. The project has a $177 million loan due to Gramercy
Capital Corp. at the beginning of February. The New York Observer reported this morning that the developer is scrambling for funds
