Work stops at 56 Leonard

Work has stopped on the 830-foot-tall 56 Leonard. Izak Senbahar, principal at the Alexico Group, said workers finished the foundation about a month ago and are pausing before continuing with aboveground work. Con Edison will be working underground until the end of January, Senbahar said. But the project, at 56 Leonard Street between Church Street and West Broadway, still has not received the last portion of its $600 million in financing. Four units in the 145-unit condominium tower have sold since the sales office opened in October.
