The variety of housing stock available on the Lower East Side, from
public housing projects to new luxury developments, has created a
diverse neighborhood that has not gentrified completely the way other
parts of Manhattan have. The neighborhood has the least expensive
two- and three-bedroom rentals, going for between $3,023 and $4,095 per month, according to data from Citi Habitats. New development rentals in the area run up
to $6,000 per month.
