Opening and closing: Brinkley’s opens, Citrine closes

Breukelen Coffee House officially opened for business on Friday at 764a Franklin Avenue in Clinton Hill. A new burger joint will open in the former Dutch Boy Paints space on Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights. The as-of-yet unnamed spot is reportedly considering the name “Dutch Boy Burgers,” pending legal approval.
A coffee shop and bookstore is slated to open on the corner of Clifton Place and Grand Avenue in Clinton Hill. Almondine Bakery has opened at 442 9th Street in Park Slope.

In Manhattan, Cien Fueguos may open in the former Le Zoccole space on the northwest corner of Avenue A and 6th Street. The minds behind the uber-exclusive bar, the Eldridge, at 247 Eldridge Street on the corner of East Houston Street, are planning to open a Lower East Side cupcake lounge, Red Velvet, featuring alcohol-laced cupcakes. No word yet on when the place plans to open.
Northern Spy Food Company is opening its doors in the former Old Devil Moon space at 511 East 12th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B. Pizza by Cer Te is delaying its opening on 55th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues until early 2010. Bunga’s Den has opened at 137 West 14th Street. Rockwell’s Express has opened at 53 East 8th Street. High-end pet lifestyle store Spot will emerge at 145 West 20th Street in the former Paw Shop space. Maialino at the Gramercy Park Hotel at 2 Lexington Avenue, near 21st Street, is on track to open its doors next month. Bar and restaurant Juliet will open at 539 West 21st Street between 10th and 11th Avenues. Brinkley’s is slated to open at 1 Cleveland Place in Little Italy. A new pasta cart opened yesterday on 45th Street and Sixth Avenue. The Doghouse has opened at 152 Orchard Street on the Lower East Side.

Uptown, Michael’s craft shop is opening at 808 Columbus Avenue on the corner of 100th Street. Community Food & Juice will reopen at 2893 Broadway between 112th and 113th Streets tomorrow. Harlem Yoga Studio is slated to come to 181 Lenox Avenue and 119th Street. Country Panfried Chicken will open at 2841 Frederick Douglass Boulevard.

In the Bronx, Verizon Fios will open at 2721 Bronxwood Avenue, Key Food
will open at 3035 White Plains Road and Rockfort Jamerican Restaurant &
Bakery will open at 2250 East Tremont Avenue, according to a press release. Outside
of New York City, Bella Beauty Supply will open at 207 North Avenue in

Amid these openings, there have been some closings. Joe’s Bar on Sixth Street between avenues A and B is closed temporarily. The original location of Diablo Royale at 189 West 10th Street is closed for renovations. Citrine at 59 West 21st Street has been shuttered by the Department of Buildings.
