The city is set to announce plans for a year-round ferry network along the East River, NY1 reported. The 24-hour service would be run by a division of New York Waterway and would travel along a route that includes seven stops, stretching from Long Island City, Queens to the Fulton Ferry Landing in Brooklyn. Stops in Manhattan would include Pier 11 And East 34th Street. The ferries would arrive at each stop every 20 minutes during peak hours. Fares would be either $3 or $5.50 depending on the length of the ride. New York Water Taxi currently operates a ferry service across the river, but ferries make only a handful of trips each day. The city is hoping to have the ferry network up and running by June. [NY1]
