New-age author and physician Deepak Chopra is selling his apartment at the Park Imperial building at 230 West 56th Street, according to Streeteasy.com. Chopra, who has penned more than 60 books, has listed his two-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home at the star-studded building for $3.6 million. The listing agent is Prudential Douglas Elliman power broker Dolly Lenz, who showed off the home on last night’s episode of “Secret Lives of the Super Rich: Mega Homes” on CNBC, in which she starred.
As The Real Deal previously reported, rapper Diddy and “Law & Order SVU” actor Christopher Meloni both live in the Park Imperial. James Bond star Daniel Craig is also said to have rented a three-bedroom apartment there in 2009 while treading the boards in “A Steady Rain” on Broadway. Celebrities reportedly see the property’s in-house parking facility as a clever way to escape the glare of the paparazzi.
Chopra bought the apartment under his wife Rita’s name in 2003, paying just $1.75 million, according to public records. The 1,551-square-foot penthouse unit features views of the Hudson River. It was not immediately clear if Chopra had purchased another New York City apartment; a search for his and his wife’s names in public records did not reveal recent purchases.
The apartment’s interiors reflect Chopra’s interest in Eastern spiritual tradition; small Eastern figurines are displayed around the apartment.
Neither Chopra nor Lenz immediately responded to a request for comment.
