Shortly after entering contract to sell his two-bedroom condominium on the Bowery, musician John Legend has scooped up a one-bedroom in Nolita. The New York Post reported that Legend has purchased a 1,969-square-foot, one-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom unit in the Brewster Carriage House at 374 Broome Street. The second-floor unit had been asking $2.55 million, but Legend reportedly nabbed it for less than $2.5 million. His 52 East Fourth Street condo entered into contract after being listed for $2.795 million, down from its original asking price of $2.95 million.
The Broome Street building is the former home of carriage manufacturer Brewster & Co. It was bought by developer Ross Morgan in 2005, who renovated it into nine units, the first of which hit the market in November under Prudential Douglas Elliman brokers Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes. Later that month Gomes told The Real Deal that Jim Carrey and Sofia Coppola were among a list of several celebrities who had checked out the units.
Legend’s broker was Jason Walker of Prudential Douglas Elliman, according to the Post. [Post, 1st item]
