Following a June fire that destroyed their five-bedroom 88 Central Park West apartment, actor Robert De Niro and his wife Grace Hightower are having no luck finding another New York City home, the New York Post reported.
According to the Post, Hightower has been overheard saying that she is looking for a five-bedroom rental, either on one floor or a duplex, “with tons of closet space,” and that they’d probably need to move downtown.
Initially, the couple had leased a 64th-floor apartment at the Park Imperial at 230 West 56th Street. However, the deal quickly fell apart. “There was an issue with misrepresentation of the apartment and they managed to get out of the lease. The apartment went back on the market two days ago,” a source told the Post.
De Niro was out of the country at the time of the fire and now plans to gut renovate the unit, a process that could take up to three years.
