Ladies love Brooklyn Heights, while men flock to LIC

Long Island City was extremely popular with male renters over the summer, while the ladies favored Brooklyn Heights, according to a new infographic from rental site Zumper.

The locales — vastly different in terms of both geography and rental prices — attracted 80 percent female and 80 percent male renters, respectively. Meanwhile, renters moving to the Upper West Side, Hell’s Kitchen and Greenpoint were also overwhelmingly women, between 65 and 80 percent, while Astoria lured a similar share of men, the website said.

The ladies also favored the Upper East Side, Midtown, Chelsea, Grammercy, the East Village, Soho and Battery Park, while Murray Hill, the West Village, Greenwich Village and Tribeca had a slight majority of men.

“While this is just a reflection of what happened on Zumper, it’s interesting to see that a larger percentage of men moved to the neighborhoods at opposite ends of the price spectrum (Tribeca and Astoria), whereas women dominated the middle of the spectrum,” Taylor Glass-Moore, Zumper co-founder and chief operating officer told The Real Deal via email. “With men earning on average 20 percent more than women, it seems expected that a higher percentage of them would move to Tribeca.”
