Despite community efforts to save Boerum Hill’s Church of the Redeemer, the 150-year-old Gothic Revival structure will soon give way to high-rise condos.
The church, located at 24 4th Avenue, is moving forward with its plans to sell the building for $17 million, Carolynn DiFiore Balmelle of the East Pacific Street Block Association told Brownstoner.
Halstead will market the property, which allows up to 70,000 buildable square feet, to a developer willing to build an eight to ten-story condo building. However, the diocese requires that 22,000 square feet be set aside for the church. [Brownstoner] –Christopher Cameron
