A West 11th Street townhouse is about to hit the market for $30 million.
George Agiovlasitis bought the property at 278 West 11th Street, then a purple bed-and-breakfast, in 2011 for $8.2 million. He then renovated the 6,500-square-foot, four-bedroom space. Now that the overhaul is nearly complete, he’s listed the pad with David Kornmeier of Brown Harris Stevens.
Built in 1853, the 25-foot-wide Greek Revival townhouse was stripped of its colorful exterior to reveal the original red brick facade, and Agiovlasitis rebuilt the stoop to resemble the home’s original entrance, the Wall Street Journal reported. The south-facing walls were also replaced with glass.
The property also boasts a roof deck with Empire State Building views, elevator, a 1,200-bottle wine cellar on the lower level and a gym, Agiovlasitis told the Journal. [WSJ, 4th item] — Julie Strickland
