Itzy Garay is the second key player at Town Residential to have been granted a promotion in recent days.
Garay, one of the firm’s first recruits after it launched in 2010, has been named executive vice president of leasing, a move up from her former role as leasing director at Town’s Flatiron office. The promotion puts her on the company’s executive team.
Wendy Maitland, formely a senior managing director at the company and another of the company’s first hires, was bumped up to president of sales earlier this week.
The promotions come a month after a legal dispute between company owners Andrew Heiberger and Joe Sitt, which led to a number of agents defecting to other firms, was settled.
In her new role, Garay will work look to strengthen the company’s leasing efforts.
“As one of the first members of Town’s leadership team, I’ve had the privilege of playing an instrumental role in the growth and decision-making that propelled Town forward,” Garay said. “As a managing director of Town Flatiron since its inception, I am proud to have helped increase the office’s revenue to more than $20 million.”
Before joining Town in 2010, Garay was a manager at rental giant Citi Habitats, the firm formerly owned by Heiberger before he started Town.
“As one of the original members of the Town team, Itzy has played an outsized role in the company’s rapid ascent of the residential brokerage business,” said Sitt, Town’s chairman. “In her new position, Itzy — continuing to work shoulder to shoulder with new president of sales, Wendy Maitland — will be invaluable in building even further on the company’s success.”
