Soho penthouse trades for nearly $27M

The penthouse loft in a former Soho manufacturing space has changed hands for $26.58 million.

The 7,500-square-foot duplex pad at 383 West Broadway snagged one of the priciest co-op deals ever recorded below 34th Street in Manhattan, according to the Wall Street Journal. And while the buyer remains unknown, the seller is artist Charles Ross, who called the space home since the 1970s.

Ross renovated and sold the loft along with photographer Damion Berger, the latter of whom first proposed the idea of revamping the space that once served as Ross’ art studio space. The duo paired the space with a vacant rooftop space purchased from the co-op, and decked out the would-be pad with additions such as skylights, Berger told the Journal.

Listed at $32 million in November by Douglas Elliman brokers Leonard Steinberg and Herve Senequier along with Adam Modlin of the Modlin Group, the home boasts original cast-iron columns, a 1,500-bottle wine cellar and media room. A terrace measuring nearly 4,200 square feet rounds out the posh space, not to be outdone by an outdoor kitchen and shower. [WSJ] — Julie Strickland
