The duo that created Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg are launching a new effort in Crown Heights, dubbed Berg’n.
Eric Demby and Jonathan Butler will cut the ribbon Wednesday on their latest foodie destination, which will feature Ramen Burger, Asia Dog, Mighty Quinn’s, Pizza Moto, Parlor coffee, Blue Marble ice cream and Brooklyn Oyster Party, and a seasonal beer list, according to the New York Daily News.
Initially, Butler only set out to transform a site at 899 Bergen Street, between Franklin and Classon Avenues, into a commercial space for startups that have been priced out of Williamsburg and Dumbo. And to sell tenants on the site, they would bring Smorgasburg-style food offerings.
“We needed to have food that would attract people and make them want to travel here,” Demby told the Daily News.
But the neighborhood has improved so quickly that it became clear that the food would become a destination in itself.
“There are a lot of people that work in the area and need a place to meet,” Demby said. [NYDN] – Christopher Cameron
