A Midtown landlord is trying to revive tenement-style living by converting a two-bedroom rental into a 22-bed “hostel.”
In a video posted to Youtube by “Joseph Morgan,” the landlord shows off the illegal rental, which he calls a “Luxury Midtown East apartment” for “young professionals” on 27th Street and Third Avenue.
“This is a brand new apartment… It’s an amazing location. It’s close to all the trains. Very conveniently located. You can walk to Union Square and Grand Central,” the apartment owner boasts.
A City Hall spokeswoman said the city has been made aware of a possible illegal hostel and is investigating, according to the New York Post. [NYP] – Christopher Cameron
