The West Village was the most popular Manhattan neighborhood for all rental and for-sale residences in August, comprising 15.6 percent of total searches, based on all StreetEasy searches in which an area was specified.
The neighborhood took the top spot in July as well, with 16 percent of total searches. A studio co-op at 22 Cornelia Street, listed for $2,275 per month, was the most-viewed listing on the website for that area. Filling out the top five were, in descending order, Greenwich Village (14.7 percent), Chelsea (13.8 percent), Gramercy Park (13.5 percent) and the Flatiron District (12.8 percent).
The next five searches were Soho, the East Village, the Upper East Side, Tribeca and the Upper West Side, StreetEasy data showed.
The least searched-for Manhattan neighborhood was Little Italy, with 3.9 percent. In July, the Financial District sat at the bottom, with 4 percent. — Mark Maurer
